Hello. In this post, I'll share 2 methods to get Final Cut Pro for FREE.
Go to the official Final Cut Pro website and download the free trial from there. Install the trial once downloaded. You'll have a 90-day trial.
When you want to reset the trial, you need to delete a specific file. There are two ways of doing this – one is by going to a folder and deleting the specific file (shown in the video above), and the other is by opening Terminal and running the following command.
To open Terminal, press the Command + Space Bar keys on your keyboard. Alternatively, you can go to the top-right of the Menu Bar and invoke Spotlight Search. Search for 'Terminal' and open the program. You can also open a Finder Window, and go to the Applications folder followed by Utilities. You'll find Terminal there.
Once a Terminal window opens, paste the following.
mv -v ~/Library/Application\ Support/.ffuserdata ~/.Trash
That's it. The trial should have reset, and you should now have 90 days once more.
Before I tell you how you can get FCP for free, let me give you a few warnings.
- Some would call Method 1 unethical since one would be using the software for free forever, but it's not most likely not illegal as Apple hasn't fixed this bug yet that lets users enjoy this unlimited trial. But method 2 is illegal since this is about downloading cracked/pirated software. To know more about the legality of using cracked software, please consult a lawyer. I believe people should know about every option they have, so I am making this part of the tutorial for educational purposes only.
- There's also the risk of you installing malware and infecting your Mac if you are not too careful. Use a decent anti-malware solution if you would like to check what you're installing. I use Bitdefender Antivirus on my Mac (as part of their Bitdefender Premium Security offering).
Go to Google (or a search engine of your choice) and type 'torrentmac'. You'll find a website torrentmac (dot) net. Go to that website. In the search bar, type the name of the software you want to download. Choose a version from the search results. Below the Name, Size and Files of the software, you'll see a 'Download' button. Click that and it'll download a ".torrent" file.
To open the ".torrent" file, you'll need a torrent client. Please DON'T use uTorrent or BitTorrent. Instead, use qBittorrent or Transmission. If you ever need to download a Linux distro such as Ubuntu Linux, qBittorrent or Transmission will be indispensable. Open qBitorrent or Transmission after installing. Then open the '.torrent' file you just downloaded.
One thing you should keep in mind about downloading torrents is that while downloading torrents, your IP address is visible to others who are downloading torrents as well. If you're downloading stuff that's legal, then this is not much of an issue. However, if you're downloading cracked software, broadcasting your IP address like that would be foolish (you can read more about it by searching Google). So use a VPN.
While there are countless VPN providers to choose from, NordVPN, Surfshark, ExpressVPN and Private Internet Access are some you may have heard of.
I've used NordVPN and Surfshark for over a month, and my experience with them has been mostly positive. If you want to know about it, let me know. The VPN I'm using right now and would recommend is Mullvad. They have a flat 5 Euro per month fee. To know why I and many others chose Mullvad over those big-name VPNs, check out this article. Once you've got a Mullvad subscription, make sure to bind it with qBittorrent by following this guide. This is super important. You may also want to enable port forwarding as this helps with getting faster download speeds on older torrents.
You're now ready to download the '.torrent' file. I guess you already have qBitorrent open. Double click the '.torrent' file that you downloaded and start the download.
Once the download is complete, stop the torrent. This will save your monthly data allowance. Open the file you just downloaded and install the software like you normally would. You may see something like 'disable Gatekeeper'. Don't click that.
After installing the software, right-click (secondary-click) on it and choose Open. At this point, you should see one of two messages.
- The file is downloaded from the internet or something like that. In this case, right-click on the software again and click Open again.
- The file is damaged. In this case, try with a previous version of the software (i.e., repeat steps 1, 2 and 4).
That's pretty much it for this tutorial. If you have any questions regarding qBittorrent, you can check out this qBittorrent subreddit and if you have any questions about using VPNs with qBittorrent, check out this VPNTorrents subreddit. Leave a comment below if you want to provide any feedback.
